Back At One: Step Aerobics

Since I was twelve years old one of my favorite workouts has been step aerobics. Throughout the years I have always been able to work my way back to advanced levels. In my late thirties, I fell off hard and this time around I couldn’t work my way back up. So I started at the beginning, and it got harder and harder. I start to think that, with me being in my forties, my step aerobics days are behind me.

Last year through one of my favorite online yoga instructor start a step channel. Her step aerobics routines were gentler and easier for me to do. I no longer dread doing step aerobics so doing the routines made me realize two things that I hadn’t wanted to admit but had to:

  1. It was time to face facts that I may never get back to the level of using step risers. And that’s okay I had already hit some goood milestones and now it’s about just exercising for fun and keeping healthy.
  2. I had to give up my Cathe app it wasn’t working for me anymore and once again I was learning that was okay.

Thanks to Step With Bird my love for step aerobics has renewed my love for step aerobics. So since I decided to turn to my favorite workout place: YouTube. I found a slew of step aerobics workouts and what I love about these beginner workouts I didn’t feel like a big failure doing them. As you know I set the reset on my workout this year so I will decide to blog about the step aerobics that I have done in February and in March.

The first step workout is a beginner-friendly workout from BoFlex Barbie Channel. I love her workout she takes the time to show the moves and you get a rest break in between routines. Another thing I notice on her channel. She has a hip hop workout with real hip hop and she also has a pop workout with real pop music. I have done this workout four times and this workout was a definite 10 out of 10. I really enjoy her workouts and highly recommend them if you are trying to get back in shape and get your steps in.

The following step aerobics workout is also a new channel for me but so far I am loving this workout (although I have done this workout only twice so far) but so far loving it. This workout is called 30 Min Beginner Basic Steps Aerobics Workout Video by Christina Dorner. Like Boflex Barbie this step workout routine is fun to do and not complicated. Also, like BoFlex Barbie the workouts go pretty quickly and a lot of sweating (I forgot to mention the sweating because both of these workouts will make you sweat) This workout is a ten out of ten.

The final step aerobics I have done in a while is actually the step aerobics that made me fall back in love with step aerobics. The workout is called 15 min low-impact step aerobics workouts for the step with bird channel. This workout is what I call a win-win situation because it’s an easier routine to do and you can get your steps in. The best part is that if you can do another round it’s gentle enough for you to do another round. This workout is a ten out of ten.

I really love these workouts because they help me fall back in love with step aerobics and they help me get my steps in.
